WHY VIDEO IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR BRAND?

Videos are the most effective way to get to the heart of what your brand is. I could and I will give numbers to back this up , but first, my name is Tosin Ajayi, I run Toes In Video Production and this article is accompanied by a video of me saying exactly what you are reading right now.

If you’ve watched the video, you already have an idea of what it is I’m about. You have an idea what I sound like, look like, dress like how tidy my environs are, essentially you have begun to get an idea of my brand. And you’ve already started to form an opinion on whether you like me or not and whether you’d like to work with me or not. This is all within about 10 seconds of watching said video. Nothing else that we have has that much cut through.

But now it’s time for the promised numbers. I’d rather you didn’t need them and just trusted me and gave me money. But, as you might be getting through this video that is part of my brand. A begrudging acceptance that things like numbers are helpful.

So, those numbers, How important is video?

  • In 2022, video accounted for 65% of all internet traffic (sandvine)

  • Video is shared more often than any other kind of content

  • YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world (Visual.ly)

  • Instagram reels create double the engagement as photos

  • 33% of tablet owners watches about an hour of video on their devices every day (Brafton)

  • Video in email can boost open rates by 20% and increase click-through rates 2-3X

So if you want people to know about your brand, video is the most effective way to do it.

A lot of people reading/watching this will be sole traders, and you know people buy you more than they buy what you sell, so whether you like it or not you and the way you come across is a massive part of that brand.

Also, our corporate AI Overlords Google are changing the way the do their search. Love it or hate it, as a business, this is where most people are going to find you and in this economy, you have to play their game. They are always changing their Algorithm, but the latest change is going to heavily favour video over and above any kind of content. So yeah, the ominous news is pretty soon, if you want to be noticed, you are going to need to get into video.

On that slightly depressing (although not for me) note.
